I think a big, big part of the problem is where Netanyahu’s personal

Incentives take his policies. Endless war is best for Bibi.

I mostly agree with you - I doubt much would change the minute after Bibi left. But other leaders would not have such strong personal incentives to keep the Gaza carnage going indefinitely. And if trying to leverage this into a longer term solution is anyone’s pipe dream (hard to think of it any other way), Bibi’s the wrong guy. He’s no more interested in a long term solution than Hamas.
